Ricky Tims

I just returned from a workshop with Ricky Tims at Olde City Quilts. We stayed a couple of nights and had a mini-retreat at a Quaker meeting house across the street from the quilt shop. I actually finished this quilt in less than one day at the retreat -- a real record for me!

Weaving

Earlier this year, I took another workshop at the Mennonite Center in Harleysville, PA. This time it was a hands-on weaving class where we wove a small table runner on a rigid heddle loom (mine's the multi-colored one). While at the workshop, a lady mentioned a nearby store and suggested I visit it on my way home. The store is called Homespun and it's located in Hereford, PA. The shop is so quaint and it carries needle punching and rug hooking (my latest obsession).

3 Dudes

Here's a quilt I made as a shop sample for the Cozy Quilt Shoppe in Maywood, NJ. It was quick to do and a lot of fun. I started another one using Halloween fabrics but, of course, it's still in the UFO stage.

Bobbin Lace

I rarely sit at the computer anymore so I've downloaded the Blogger app on my phone and I'm hoping to post more often.
I've joined a bobbin lace guild. I'm currently working on a handkerchief lace edging. One side down and three more to go!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a workshop on scherenschnitte (German paper cuttings). It was held at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville, PA and I really enjoyed the workshop. I've been doing scherenscnitte for years but I've never before used watercolors to shade the cuttings.

Woman cannot live by quilting alone!

Well, here's a recent job I did finish! Someone walked into The Cozy Quilt Shoppe in Maywood and wanted a tattoo embroidered onto his sock monkey's arm -- who wouldn't???
So here's the deal. I've been sewing almost my whole life and what do I have to show for it? Basically nothing because I'm apparently the queen of unfinished projects. (I have a PhD in sewing--projects half done!!!)

I'm determined to make a change. This is the year where I'm going to get my act together and actually finish what I start. So what better way to be nudged into this than blogging my accomplishments! Here we go ...
